Hey! Thanks for checking us out.

We know it can be a little intimidating to visit a church for the first time. Let’s make this as stress-free as possible.

Hope Hornby is one of four Hope sites in the south-west of Christchurch. We seek to equip people to worship God, follow Christ and transform their world with the power of the Holy Spirit.

We want to be agents of change in our communities and so we provide many opportunities for the church and community to intersect. Our goal is to help people along their journey with God and there are many ways we look to facilitate this. We want to be good stewards of what God has entrusted us with.

Here you will find information on our Sunday services and our locations. There is also some more information in the tabs above about us and what we believe. If you follow the links you will find more information about our community and the things we have going on during the week for people of all ages.

There is an information desk available at all our services, so if you are new and visiting us please stop by to say hello. We would love to meet you and invite you along to one of our new people’s afternoon teas. If you have any burning questions you would like answered please don’t hesitate to give us a call (our number is at the very bottom of this page) or contact us through this website.

Where to Go

Currently, we hold our Sunday services 9:00am, 10:45am and 7:00pm at 27 Amyes Road, Hornby. On long weekends we hold just two services, one at 10:00am and one at 7:00pm. There is a parking lot accessible at South Hornby School, or you may park on Amyes Road or any of the side streets.

During the week the Hope Hornby office is open from 9am – 4pm, Monday – Thursday. You can contact the office between these hours on 03 980 2296.

What To Expect

  1. Casual dress is okay! Some people put on their “Sunday Best” and others feel more comfortable (and cooler in the summer months) wearing shorts and jandals.
  2. Morning tea is kind of our thing – we like it so much, we do it after both our morning services!
  3. Services generally last about an hour and a half. We have a crèche available for those 5 years old and under located in the lounge across from the auditorium. Our school-aged children (Years 1-6) can leave the service during community time for our kids programme (Rock of Life) which takes place in the Reima Centre building just across from the church building. For the youth (Years 7-10), we have our Aspire programme over in the Youth Base behind the church.
