What time are your church services?
We gather every Sunday morning at 9am and 10:45am. We also have an evening service at 7pm. Full details of all our services can be found here. On long weekends we have just two services, one at 10:00am and one at 7:00pm.
Where is Hope Hornby located?
Our address is 27 Amyes Road, Hornby, Christchurch 8042. You can get directions here.
How long is church?
About 75 minutes in the morning and 60 minutes in the evening. Feel free to stay after the service to connect and enjoy a hot drink with friends.
Is there car parking?
There is free off-street parking available either in the carpark in front of the church, or in the South Hornby School carpark beside the church.
Otherwise feel free to park on Amyes Road or any of the surrounding side streets.
What can I expect?
From the moment you arrive you’ll be greeted by people who are happy to see you! Sunday services are designed to be enjoyed, and not endured, offering Bible-based messages that are engaging and relevant to people today. It’s a casual and friendly environment where everyone is welcome, and everyone can belong.
Our gatherings generally begin with a time of sung worship, followed by a message, and ending with a time of responding to God, where you can worship a little more, receive prayer, pray for others, or just relax and observe.
Can I watch online?
Yes! We are currently live streaming our 9am service. You can watch live, or view past streamed services on our YouTube channel or our website. We also audio record our sermons, you can listen to these here.
What’s the music like?
We enjoy live music as part of our worship to God. Our services have a mixture of modern, vibrant music, as well as traditional hymns. Check out our YouTube playlist for a range of songs we love.
What denomination are you?
We are a Presbyterian Church and member of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ). You can read our Statement of Faith here.
